Over 1,000 people attended this year’s Free Shakespeare in the park production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Your continued support and your willingness to tell your friends made all the difference! Whether you made a donation, encouraged your friends to come to a show or just came by to say hi and share words of encouragement. All of it has made for a great season.

This year we also held a very successful youth summer camp in Oakland led by Education Director Sharon Huff. Our young students had a great time learning and performing. We are now in the process of moving forward on a fall class and are looking forward to seeing some of our summer actors.

Other new developments this year

*literary development program. With less than 17% of all new plays on the stage being written by women woman’s Will is committed to encouraging women writers to tell their stories. By assigning mentors, providing opportunities to hear their work and staging their work with at least 2 staged readings we hope to help to even the odds.

*Artist Salon. Each month we invite women artists to join us at a local café for coffee and discussion. Each month features a different theme. Some of the past themes included: directing, casting, and technical theater for women.

it is time for us to begin to look toward the future. At the end of the summer we added several new company members. I encourage you to take a look at the company bios to see who these wonderful ladies are.
